A cash register having a remote attachment for dispensing change using the minimum number of coins, comprises racks 31, 33 which are differentially set to represent the dimes (10 cents) and cents respectively of the change required. Apertured plates 21, 22 are moved with racks 31, 33, by means of stem portions 30, 32. Sixteen resiliently mounted switch contacts 26 press against the slides, and where the contact coincides with an aperture in each plate it makes contact with one of eight copper elements 40 bonded to the lower surface of printed circuit board 20. The copper strips are in electrical connection with the solenoids which operate the coin dispensing tubes, there being one 50 cent tube, one 25 cent tube, two 10 cent tubes, one 5 cent tube, two 2 cent tubes and one 1 cent tube, some copper strips being positioned above more than one contact 26. The apertures in the plates are arranged so that the change set on racks 31, 33 is dispensed using the minimum number of coins. A second embodiment (Fig. 9, not shown) includes twelve linearly aligned contacts. In alternative embodiments the copper strips may make electrical connection with stamp dispensers, punch mechanisms, electrical sequencing controllers, or code converters.
