Abstract

1,236,601. Thermocouples. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI RESZVENYTARSASAG. 29 Aug., 1968, No. 41331/68. Heading H1K. A thermocouple for use up to 2600‹ C. comprises three or more limbs meeting in a point, one of which is made of wire consisting of 1-5 atomic per cent rhenium, at least one element selected from Li, B, N, Na, A1, P, K, Ga, As, Rb, In, Sb, Cs, T1 and Bi in quantities of less than 0À02 atomic per cent per element, and the balance, apart from impurities, tungsten. For use in an oxidizing atmosphere the limbs may be disposed in a sealed, inert-gas filled, tube made of tungsten or molbydenum containing from 0À01-5 atomic per cent of rhenium, and having a rippled surface coated with a metallic oxide glaze. In one embodiment bracing wires are provided on some of the limbs and in another one limb is a tendril used for holding the couple to a support.
