Abstract

1,235,577. Preservation of blood and serum samples. BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM G.m.b.H. 11 July, 1969 [15 July, 1968; 19 March, 1969], No. 34990/69. Heading B1X. A process for the preservation of blood and serum samples to be used subsequently for the determination of components present therein comprises applying a known amount of the sample, to be investigated to an absorbent carrier with ion-exchange properties and then drying the carrier. The sample is eluted from the carrier using for example 0.33N perchloric acid or 2:1 chloroform-methanol immediately before the determination is to be carried out. The carrier may be paper, compressed cellulose, hydrophilic synthetic resin or textile fabric; it may itself have ion-exchange properties or may have ion-exchange properties imparted to it by impregnation or by fixing to it organic or inorganic powders or granulates with ion-exchange properties. Examples relate to determination of glucose, using the hexokinase -G-6-PDH method (NADP, ATP, hexokinase, glucose-6- phosphate dehydrogenase) and the GOD-POD method (peroxidase, glucose oxidase, 2, 2- azino-di-(3-ethyl benzothiazolone-6-sulphonic acid); determination of triglyceride (NADH, ATP, phosphoenol pyruvate, lactate dehydrogenase, pyruvate kinase); determination of galactose (NAD, galactose dehydrogenase); determination of cholesterol (dimethyl - benzene sulphonic acid, acetic acid, acetic anhydride).
