Abstract

1,235,462. Releasable fastenings. MATTHEW HARVEY & CO. Ltd. 5 Aug., 1968 [22 Aug., 1967], No. 38608/67. Heading E2A. A releasable fastening has resilient means 26 for inducing relative movement of relatively movable parts 30 of a primary fastening element 20 towards a retaining position, the relatively movable parts 30 and a co-operating part 18 of a secondary fastening element being shaped to permit the relatively movable parts 30 to be moved into a releasing position in response to forces exerted upon the secondary element in a direction to separate it from the primary element, the secondary element includes a handle portion 10, and attachment means which comprises pedestal means 11 adjacent to one end of the handle portion whereby said secondary fastening element can be mounted on the surface of one of a pair of relatively closable members with said handle portion in spaced relation to such surface, said primary fastening element 20 also including attachment means whereby said element can be mounted on the other relativly closable member and wherein said co-operating part of the secondary fastening element projects from said one end of said handle portion laterally relative to the pedestal means. In the construction described the primary fastening element is identical with that described in Specification 1,123,911. The secondary element has a second pedastal means 12, extending from the opposite end of the handle portion and which forms part of the attachment means. Each pedastal is connected to a plate 13, 14.
