Abstract

1,235,415. Recovery of paracumyl phenol. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES. 12 May, 1970 [14 Feb., 1969], No. 8171/69. Heading C2C. Paracumyl phenol is separated from a mixture comprising paracumyl phenol, dimers of α-methyl styrene and less volatile materials by distilling from them at a maximum temperature of 270‹ C. at a reflux ratio of at most 2, using at most 5 theoretical plates, a distillation cut comprising paracumyl phenol and dimers of α-methyl styrene and crystallizing paracumyl phenol from the cut by cooling.
