Abstract

1,235,016. Anti-skid systems. NIPPON AIR-BRAKE CO. Ltd. 14 Nov., 1969 [20 Nov., 1968], No. 55984/69. Heading F2F. In a brake pressure control system for a vehicle having speed detecting means for detecting the wheel speed of the vehicle and reference speed setting means including memory means for storing an output delivered from the speed detecting means at the moment of brake pressure application, the control system comprises an electrical circuit for giving an approximate reference deceleration of the vehicle during actuation of the brakes, means for computing an approximate vehicle speed from the reference deceleration and the wheel speed stored in the memory means, and means for comparing the wheel speed obtained by the speed detecting means with the approximate vehicle speed thereby to carry out on-off control of the brakes depending on the result of comparison therebetween. As shown, when the wheels of a vehicle start to decelerate due to braking action and the voltage generated by the speed-responsive generator 1 is reduced to a value lower than the voltage downstream of a diode 2, the speed detector is cut off from a capacitor 3 the output of which is applied to an integrating computer 5 comprising a D.C. power source 8, a resistor 4 and a grounded emitter transistor 9, the amount of discharge from the circuit being fixed by the resistor at a constant value corresponding to a predetermined deceleration of the vehicle. An approximate speed Vs of the vehicle put out by the computer 5 is applied to a voltage dividing circuit 6 having a setting of (1-S i ), where S i is the desired slip rate, and which carries out the computation of V s (1-S i ). A differential amplifier 7 compares the wheel speed W delivered from the generator 1 with the output from the multiplier 6 and the signal therefrom is applied to a brake actuating circuit.
