[Also in Division C3] Propane - 1,2 - dioxypropionitrile; bis - (#- cyanoethyl} ether and ethane - 1,2 - dioxypropionitrile are prepared by reacting acrylonitrile with 1,2-propylene glycol, dioxan and ethylene glycol respectively and are then reacted with isooctanol or isobutanol to give di-iso-octyl 4,7- dioxa - 5 - methylsebacate, di - isobutyl 4,7 - dioxa- 5 - methylsehacate, di - iso - octyl 4,7 - dioxasebacate and di - iso - octyl 4 - oxapimelate. The esters are used as plasticizers.
