Abstract
1,231,366. Time-division-multiplex exchange systems. SIEMENS A.G. 23 Jan., 1970 [24 Jan., 1969], No. 3286/70. Heading H4K. In a time-division multiplex telephone system subscribers' group highways MS1 to MSn are each switched to subscribers two-wire lines by switches ZS in one leg of each line, the other legs being commoned to a second wire of the group highway which is stood away from earth by a resistor R the resistance of which is high compared with the resistance of those legs of twowire inter-group highways I to N which are switched to the second wires of the group highways. The arrangement reduces cross-talk. Switching between group and inter-group highways is effected in both legs at each cross-point, the low-voltage legs being switched by opposed parallel diode pair arrangements, the highvoltage legs being switched by a symmetrical diode bridge arrangement, each of these arrangements incorporating a transformer secondary to enable each cross-point to be switched from a common transformer primary winding. The inter-group highways I to N are shown as sections of coaxial cable the external conductors of which are connected to earth by resistors W. The system may incorporate highways switched in the manner of subscribers' group highways but serving inter-exchange junctions with pulse code to pulse amplitude conversion equipment.
