Abstract

1,231,279. Perforating by burning. KALLE A.G. 4 Dec., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 57607/68. Heading B4B. [Also in Divisions B6 and G2] Metal, plastics or combined metal/plastics foils are perforated by an electronic beam, laser beams or plasma rays. The metal foils are preferably aluminium or steel 20-300 microns thick, the number of perforations are 100- 50,000 per square centimetre and the diameter of the perforations is 10-100 microns. The plastics foils are preferably polyester, polyolefins, polyamides and polycarbonates 5-120 microns thick, the number of perforations between 100 and 80,000 per square centimetre and the diameter of the perforations being 3-50 microns. The composite foil is vacuumdeposited aluminium on polyester. Alternatively plastics films may be perforated by melting through a metal screen using an open flame.
