Abstract

1,230,979. Styrene derivatives. LAPORTE CHEMICALS Ltd. 13 Dec., 1968 [15 Dec., 1967], No. 57093/67. Heading C2C. The invention comprises a composition comprising a normally unstable styrene based monomer together with a stabilizing quantity of picric acid and a quinone or phenol, other than picric acid, which quinone or phenol is capable of forming a stable picrate. The styrene based monomer may be a dihalostyrene. Preferred quinones and phenol are t-butyl catechol, benzoquinone or hydroquinone.
