Abstract

122,964. Marx, R. J. April 4, 1918. Pulping-engines.-In a pulp-refining engine, the plug is provided with stone grinding-bars 21 secured in grooves therein by cement 17, the sides of the bars being grooved for the purpose. The bars increase in width from the feed end to the delivery end, and have longitudinal grooves for feeding the pulp, the bars being preferably in two sections longitudinally, and the grooves in the one section are out of line with those of the second section. The shell is provided with groups of grooved stone bars 24, 25, 26, 27, arranged as shown in Fig. 4, and comprising sets, as 24, alternating with a different number of sets 25, the joints being out of line as indicated, as also the grooves therein. The groups are secured by bars 30 and master-wedges 32, and the several bars by short wedges 29.
