Abstract

1,228,491. Transistor logic circuits. MULLARD Ltd. 19 April, 1968, No. 18676/68. Heading H3T. A logic circuit has two or more input emitter follower transistors T 3 , T 4 , T 5 connected to the base of a first transistor T 1 of a current switching pair and the common collector potential supplied as a reference voltage for the base of the second transistor T 2 of the switch. In Fig. 1, if any of the inputs to transistors has a logical value 0 then the current shown as I C is the result of both transistors T 1 and T 2 conducting, whereas only T 2 conducts if an input has a logic value 1. The output is taken from the collector of transistor T 2 . Diode V D enables a reduction in the value of resistor R 1 thus increasing the gain and hence the value of negative feed-back. In a modification (Figs 2 and 3, not shown), a further transistor (T 6 ) is emitter coupled to T 3 -T 5 , its base potential being derived from a voltage divider across the supply, or from a voltage divider connected between the collectors of T 1 and T 2 .
