Abstract

1,228,379. Soil stabilization. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 23 May, 1968 [5 July, 1967], No. 30965/67. Addition to 1,112,044. Heading E1F. Non-cohesive granular or powdery material encountered in civil engineering is stabilized by causing relative movement between the material and a fluidizing and binder-supplying means inserted therein so that in situ fluidised material is coated with binder and a continuous cohesive mass is formed. The mass can be either a sub surface layer or a surface layer. The means may involve a tube-supported vibrated screen, or one or more rotated and/or reciprocated, finned tubes, or vibrated tubular members of inverted T configuration.
