Abstract
1,228,063. Instrument illumination. LEWIS ENG CO. March 25, 1969 [March 26, 1968], No. 15640/69. Heading G1J. [Also in Divisions F2, F4] An instrument comprises an edge lit windown 14, in a bezel 12, clamp holder 28 behind the bezel, a lamp rocket 36, 38 disposed in the holder and guided by the holder for movement therein, a lamp 52 carried in the rocket, an opening 62 in the bezel adapted to pass a lamp, means 40 biasing the rocket and lamp forwards and a cover piece 64 releasably fastened to the bezel over the opening to maintain the lamp and rocket in a retracted position. The cover piece 64 comprises a metal screw having a polytetrafluoroethylene insert 68. On removal of the cover piece, coil spring 40 pushes the rocket forward until shoulder 74 abuts shoulder 76, when the lamp may be replaced. The cover piece has a slot to receive a coin for turning, and has a securing strap to prevent accidental loss.
