Abstract
1,228,002. Support for shielded source container. SOC. A.G.S. 16May, 1968, No. 23418/68. Heading H5R. A support for the shielded container of a radio-active source comprises an arrangement of three chambers 1, 2, 3, defined for example by walls 4, 5, 6 and 7 and bars 8, the central chamber 1 being adapted, e.g. by recesses in wall 5 and 6, to support shielded containers 9 of various sizes which containers may be welded or otherwise fixedly attached to a plate 10 fixed in the recess in wall 6 by bolts 12. The container is surrounded by a preferably cylindrical wall 11 and extension 13 of the container supported in wall 5. The chambers 3 and 2 are adapted to contain an obturator and a control system for that obturator respectively and they may be fitted with nozzle 3a and pipe 14 to permit the remote manipulation of the source and its use if desired at some distance from the shielded container.
