Abstract
1,227,708. Catalysts for dimerising ketones. TOKUYAMA SODA K.K. 29 April, 1969 [2 Aug., 1968 (2)], No. 21900/69. Heading B1E. [Also in Divisions Cl and C2] A catalyst for making saturated dimerised ketones comprises metallic Pd, admixed with or supported on a phosphate of Ti, Zr, Hf or Sn. Thus, a water-soluble salt of Ti, Zr, Hf or Sn is mixed with phosphate ions at pH 3-12, in presence of a Pd salt, and the Pdcontaining phosphate is recovered and reduced. Alternatively, the isolated phosphate is mixed with Pd. Also present may be inert carriers, e.g. diatomaceous earth, alumina, silica, active C or clay.
