Abstract

1,226,170. Measuring tape; dynamometric device. QUENOT & CIE S.A.R.L. Nov. 21, 1968 [Nov.29, 1967], No.55186/68. Headings G1M and G1W. A measuring instrument comprises a tape wound on a drum, a frame 1 supporting the drum, a handle 8 and a dynamometric device 4, 14, 15, contained at least partially in the handle, the frame being operatively secured to said device. In the embodiment of Fig.1 the device comprises a slider 4, a spring 14 abutting a projection 15 of the handle, a scale 16 on the slider and an index for reading the scale which may be an edge of the handle. Alternatively the scale may be integral with the handle and the marker carried by the slider. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown) a cylindrical spring surrounds a rod which connects to the frame, the spring being compressed upon pulling the frame. In the embodiment of Fig.6 (not shown) a spring is connected between the rear of the handle and a rod connected to the frame, the spring being extended by pulling the frame.
