Heading C2C. γ-Alkylmercaptolysines and salts thereof are prepared by reaction of γ-chlorolysine or a salt thereof with an alkyl mercaptan or the alkali metal or alkaline earth metal alkyl mercaptide in a solution comprising water and an organic liquid selected from acid amides, dialkylsulphoxides, glycerine or alkylene glycols and their ether or ester derivatives. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,175,930.
