A door 7 pivotable about an intermediate horizontal axis 3 has a balancing weight along its top edge in the form of a tank 4 adapted to contain e.g. water 6 or other fluid, of volume less than that of the tank so that the door is substantially balanced about its pivotal axis 3 at all angular positions. The tank may contain a plug 5 which may comprise a combined filler and drain plug or the plugs may be provided separately. Stops may be provided to secure the door at predetermined angular positions. The tank may comprise a plurality of compartments.
