Abstract
122,380. Stewart, W. N. Sept. 25, 1918. Electrodes; connexions.-An electrode for a nickel-iron accumulator consists of a number of split tubes a of wire net closed at the ends by wire netting and contained between outer covers e of thick netting, the whole being connected together by wires or sstaples. The edges a' of the tubes a overlap as shown in Fig. 4. The active material such as nickel hydroxide is contained within the tubes a and is inserted in layers which are separated by disks of nickel gauze. The whole electrode is then compressed to flatten the tubes a and bring them into contact with one another as shown in Fig. 5. The terminal lug may be a plate connected to the electrode by wires or staples, or it may be a short wire connected by being passed beneath the wire net e.
