1,223,785. Laminates. G. T. SCHJELDAHL CO. 26 July, 1969, No. 37638/69. Heading B3N. A method of producing a multi-layer mixing laminate from a first web e.g. of stress oriented polyethylene terephthalate having a film of thermally activatable adhesive e.g. of polyethylene terephthalate on a surface thereof and a second web comprising a thermally sensitive etched laminate of two films e.g. of copper and stress oriented polyethylene terephthalate, the films of said etched laminate having differing coefficients of expansion, the method comprising the steps of passing the first web adjacent to radiant heating means to activate the adhesive thereon and on to an idling tack roller where said first and second webs are brought into contact, the second web being shielded from the radiant heating means. In an embodiment, an adhesive coated web from supply roll 13 is fed past rollers 40, 38, 41 and 42 to corrective lateral guide means coupled to rollers 46 and 47, placed in superposed relation with a paper layer from roll 18 and punched by punching tools 51, separated from the paper, heated at guide roller 59 by infra-red heater 61, the heated adhesive film being contacted to tack roller 24 with the second web from supply roll 13 and the resultant laminate being further bonded by heated rollers 83 and 84, the second web passing to the tack roller 24 through position sensing station 30 to enable registration of the etched laminate with the punchings in the first web.
