Actuated or applied by backward pressure of tractor. -Relates to means for throwing bufferactuated brake mechanism o u t of action. The mechanism comprises a sliding rod c, d against which the buffer a abuts when compressed, such rod engaging an arm g on the usual tumbler shaft h of the brakes. In order that the mechanism may be rendered inoperative, the rod c, d is jointed at e and the part c can be lowered by a hand-lover j, k so as to be out of alinement with the buffer rod. The lever is duplicated on a transverse shaft n to permit control of the mechanism from either side of the vehicle and is locked in position by pins p, q which traverse the guard r of the lever j and which can be withdrawn to allow actuation of the lever by a sliding rod o. The usual shunters' hand-levers are provided.
