Abstract

1,220,056. Substituted benzodioxoles. FISONS PEST CONTROL Ltd. 2 Feb., 1968 [21 Feb., 1967], No. 8174/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Novel substituted 1,3-benzodioxoles having the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are H or alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted, or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together with the linking carbon atom form a cycloalkane or cycloalkene ring having 5 to 7 carbon atoms, R<SP>3</SP> is H or alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted, alkanoyl of 2 to 5 carbon atoms or benzoyl, R<SP>4</SP> is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl or alkynyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> are H, halogen, or alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted are prepared by (a) reacting the corresponding 4-hydroxy-1,3-benzodioxole with an isocyanate of the formula R<SP>4</SP>NCO or a substituted carbamyl chloride of the formula R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>NCOCl; or (b) reacting the corresponding 1,3 - benzodioxolyl - 4 - chloroformate with an amine or an amide of the formula R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>NH; or (c) acylating the corresponding compound where R<SP>3</SP> is H to give the compound where R<SP>3</SP> is acyl. 2,2 - Dimethyl - 1,3 - benzodioxole - 4 - yl chloroformate, is obtained by treating a solution of phosgene in benzene with a solution of 4- hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-benzodioxole and dimethylaniline in benzene.
