1,219,798. Disc brake operating mechanisms. ZKL ZAVODY NA VALIVA LOZISKA A TRAKTORY NARODNI PODNIK. 24 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 19295/68. Heading F2E. Brake plates 13, 14, which rotate with but are axially slidable on a shaft 22, are forced apart so as to engage the walls 17, 18 of a casing 6 by means of a pair of discs 1, 8 which are themselves forced apart upon relative rotation by the action of balls 21 located in recesses 20, the discs being guided by concentric faces 23 on stop members 61-64, and two of the stops 61, 63 serving to limit rotation of disc 1 by engagement with projections 2, 3 upon movement of the vehicle in one direction whilst the other two stops 62, 64 limit rotation of disc 8 by engagement with projections 11, 12 upon movement of the vehicle in the opposite direction. Relative rotation of the discs is brought about by mechanisms 24, 25 which are actuated by levers 26, 27, push rod 31 and hydraulic cylinder 30. A hand-brake pull rod 34 may actuate lever 27. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), a separate hydraulic cylinder is provided for each of mechanisms 24, 25. In a third embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), only a single operating mechanism with associated hydraulic cylinder is provided.
