1,218,236. Polyethers, polyamides, copolymers. KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI K.K. 29 Nov., 1968 [29 Nov., 1967; 5 Sept., 1968], No. 56824/68. Heading C3R. A polyamide is prepared by copolymerizing (a) a fibre-forming linear polyamide or the monomer(s) thereof with (b) up to 20% by weight of a phosphoric acid ester of a polyoxyalkylene glycol of formula where R is alkylene, R<SP>1</SP> is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, acyl, aryl or alkaryl, R<SP>2</SP> is H or (RO) n R<SP>1</SP> and n is 3-90. The polyether part of (b) may be poly ethylene or polypropylene or a copolymer thereof or an isopropyl, octyl, lauryl, cetyl, phenyl, naphthyl, benzyl or nonyl-phenyl ether thereof. The molecular weight of the polyether part may be 200-20,000. The polyamide may be a polylactam or a diamine-dicarboxylic acid condensate; (b) may be added to the polyamide before, during or after polymerization and heated with it to effect co-condensation. In examples, the polyamide is polycaprolactam and TiO 2 is present during its polymerization.
