Abstract

1,218,222. Aerosol compositions. DAGRA N.V. 11 Sept., 1968 [20 Sept., 1967], No. 43248/68. Headings C4X and C5D. An aerosol dry-shampoo preparation comprises a finely-divided dry-shampoo powder comprising a mixture of one or more solid absorbent substances and one or more mild alkalis, e.g. borax, sodium bicarbonate and magnesium subcarbonate, together with an aerosol propellant or propellant mixture containing one or more moisture binding agents e.g. silica gel and one or more dispersing agents e.g. benzethonium chloride. In the example a dry-shampoo powder is prepared by mixing magnesium subcarbonate, silica gel, talcum powder and rice starch. After grinding and drying the powder it is mixed with trichlorofluoromethane (propellant) and added to an alcoholic solution of dispersing agents i.e. isopropyl myristate, sorbitan monolaureate and benzethonium chloride. The resulting suspension is charged into the aerosol and dichlorodifluoromethane is charged under pressure.
