A growth chamber for containing potted plants or the like in a controlled environment, is characterized by a perforated channelled floor 14. The floor has holes 22, Fig. 2 (not shown), which are intended to ensure that conditioned air supplied below it enters the upper chamber 8 at low velocity. Lights 12 are provided on the roof 11 of the chamber.
