Abstract

1,217,023. Electrostatic developing apparatus. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Aug.22, 1968 [Aug.28, 1967], No.40188/68. Heading G2H. In an electrostatic copying apparatus, the copy paper 70 passes through feed rollers 36 in a guide 30, through a charging unit 38, on to an endless belt 28 upon which it is imagewise exposed, and then into a developing unit 46. The latter comprises perforated guiding members 66, 68 which allow developing solution from a spray nozzle 64 to pass freely through them. When the paper 70 is passing between them, the solution forms a shallow pool on its upper surface, the pool spilling over at the edges of the paper and through the lower guide member, the underside of the paper remaining substantially unwetted. The solution collects in the bottom of a housing 72 and is returned by means of a pump 60 to the spray nozzle 64. The guides 66, 68 may be straight Fig.4 (not shown). An image of an original transparency 10 can be formed on a screen 23 by means of lamp 14, condenser lens 16, projection lens 18 and mirrors 20, 22 with the mirror 21 in the position shown by the dashed lines. In the second position of mirror 21 shown the image is focused on to the charged paper via mirrors 24 and 26. A solenoid actuated shutter 31 is provided on the projection lens 18.
