Abstract

1,216,170. N-thiosubstituted aryl carbamates. CHEVRON RESEARCH CO. 1 Oct., 1969 [1 Oct., 1968], No. 48307/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the Formul I R-O-CO-NR<SP>1</SP>-S-R<SP>2</SP>, wherein R is an optionally substituted " aryl " group C 6-20, R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl C 1-6 radical, R<SP>2</SP> is an alkyl C 1-10 radical or a monocyclic '' aryl " group C 6-12 optionally substituted by one or two chlorine or bromine atoms, trifluoromethyl groups or alkyl radicals having a total of from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and " aryl " denotes a radical derived from benzene or a compound containing a benzene nucleus. They are prepared by condensing an aryl carbamate R-O-CO-NR<SP>1</SP>-M, where M is a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal cation with a sulphenyl halide XSR<SP>2</SP>, where X is a chlorine or bromine atom. The compounds of Formula I have insecticidal activity.
