[Also in Division D1] A web feeding device, especially for photographic films, comprises two parallel walls 34, 35 provided on their mutually facing sides with spiral ribs 20, 21 defining at least one spiral web path, there being an array of driving rollers 28-31 angularly spaced around the path on each side thereof, the roller peripheries intruding through the walls so that, when a web is in the path, the extreme side edges of the web are frictionally engaged by the rollers and the web is advanced upon rotation of the rollers. When the web reaches the centre of the spiral, it may be guided to another such device between walls 36, 37, or guided out of the container in which the device is mounted, or back to the outside through another spiral path intertwined with the first. In the latter case Fig. 9 (not shown), the roller arrays consist of separate coaxial rollers intruding through the walls between the rib convolutions, different roller arrays being provided for each direction of movement. A web may be fed in turn to devices in different processing liquids or gases. In the case of a liquid, the device is preferably only filled to the level 60. The device may be used as a storage cassette, e.g. for endless cinematographic film. Roller Drive. The rollers, the axes of which may not pass through the centre of the spiral Fig. 6 (not shown) and which may be formed with frustroconical steps Fig. 5 (not shown), are provided at their other ends with meshing gears 42, 43. The inner end of one roller of a pair are provided with bevel gears 40 which engage a common driving bevel gear 41. The shaft of the gear 41 carries a sprocket wheel 44 driven by an endless chain passing over a wheel 45. This wheel 45 is driven by a motor (58) Fig. 5 (not shown) which drives all the rollers of different devices when successive treatments are effected, or by the mechanism of a projector (100) Fig.13 (not shown), when the device is used in the projection of an endless cinematographic film.
