Abstract

1,213,674. Soldering. ADCOLA PRODUCTS Ltd. 24 Feb., 1969 [23 Feb., 1968], No. 8941/68. Heading B3R. [Also in Division H2] A tool comprises an electric heating element for heating the working part of the tool, a handle or a base and a metal shank between the handle or base and working part, the shank being surrounded by an annular member having a continuous, annular, heat reflecting surface which extends outwardly away from the shank towards the working part and having metal heat dissipating fins. A soldering iron has a bit 1 carried by a holder 2 within which the heating element is located and a shank 3 secured to a plastics handle 4 supports the holder 3. A part 5 of the shank is of stainless steel and a part 6 is of mild steel, the parts being brazed together within and to an annular member 7. The member 7 is of mild steel, is funnel shaped with an internal heat reflecting surface and carries transverse fins 7 having six sided peripheries. Bench mounted soldering irons or cable strippers may be provided with such a member 7.
