Abstract

1,213,209. Apparatus for assembling covered button elements. K. HUMBEL. 10 Dec., 1968 [19 Feb., 1968], No. 58705/68. Heading A3H. Apparatus for assembling covered button elements which consist of two button cup members and a flexible covering piece comprises two dies 7<SP>x</SP>, (8<SP>x</SP>), Fig. 1 (not shown), and two dies 12, 13, the dies 7<SP>x</SP>, (8<SP>x</SP>) being attached to a carrier plate 6 which is spring biased upward but can be moved downward by a handle 4 and a plunger 3, and the carrier plate being adapted to index through 90 degrees when first moved downward and to index a further 90 degrees when moved upward. The arrangement is such that a cup element 25 and a flexible covering piece 25d are placed in die 12 whilst the other cup element is placed in die 13. When dies 7<SP>x</SP> and (8<SP>x</SP>) are lowered they co-operate with dies 12 and 13. The die that co-operates with die 12 retains the cup 25 and covering piece 25d. The die co-operating with die 13 contains a cup and covering piece from a previous cycle of operations such that they are assembled with the cup member in the die 13. This complete button is retained by the co-operating die, removal being by a pin 20 abutting against a rib 21 and ejecting the button.
