Abstract
1,210,512. Crystallizing; concentration of sugar solutions. TATE & LYLE Ltd. 5 March, 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 10616/67. Headings BIB and BlG. [Also in Division C6] Sugar solution is fed separately to each of a series of vacuum crystallizing pans 1-4, crystal nuclei being fed to the first pan 1 and the massecuite from the last pan 4 being fed to a classifier 7 from which solution containing large crystals is passed to a crystal separator 8. As shown, the solution overflows from one pan to the next and solution containing small crystals is recycled from the classifier to the first pan. According to Fig. 2 (not shown), classifiers (12-14) follow pans 1-3, solution containing large crystals passing from each classifier to the next pan and solution containing small crystals being recycled to the preceeding pan.
