Abstract

1,209,976. Programmed electric control. BENDIX CORP. April 19, 1968 [April 28, 1967], No. 18637/68. Addition to 1, 098, 048. Heading G3N. To compensate for phase errors in a control system employing a reference wave and a phase displaceable wave, one wave is passed through a filter having characteristics substantially identical to the operating system, the output from which is compared either with the filter input or the other wave to develop an error signal which provides a correction voltage. The filter may be a resolver. Signals from a punched tape reader (12) Fig. 1 (not shown) are converted into pulse trains in a known controller (16) one for each axis and passed through counters (24, 26, 28) together with constant frequency reference square pulse signals to a recording head (38). On playback the reference signal squarewave is amplified at 72 passed through a discriminator 78 which produces a pulse train representative of the zero crossings of a 0 degree wave and a 90 degrees wave generated at (50) Fig. 1. The 0 degree wave is fed directly to one input of a flip-flop 84 and indirectly through an inverter 86 to the other input, the flip-flop output being passed through an amplifier 92 to one stator coil 96 of a resolver 110. The other stator coil 98 is fed by a similar circuit from the 90 degrees wave through a flip-flop 88 which has a second output, both outputs passing to a detector 138. Outputs from flip-flops 84, 88 are also passed to stator coils of a calibrated resolver 134, the rotor coil being connected through a filter 136 to the detector 138, which gives an output proportional to frequency change from the 0 degree signal. Each co-ordinate signal e.g. the X axis signal, is passed through an amplifier 74 and flip-flop 120 to another detector 118 to which is fed the output from rotor coil 112 through a filter 115, and the output controls the X axis servomotor together with a correction voltage from detector 138. The detector circuits, which are identical, are described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown).
