Abstract

In a whole page, line-by-line or paragraph-byparagraph rotary duplicator in which a card 10 is produced bearing the same information in the printed and the perforated forms, a perforated or magnetic tape 25 is also produced recorded with the same information. As shown, a data carrier 1 and printing forme 12 bearing information areas of identical matter are respectively processed through a sensing device 15 and a rotary duplicator 11 any additional information of a variable character being added to the printed matter on the card coming from the duplicator 11 by a keyboard instrument 13. Heading information is passed from the device 15 to a card perforator 14 through a decoder and store 16 whilst "line" information travels from the device through a decoder and store 17. The information from the keyboard 13 travels directly to the perforator 14 such that when the printed card arrives the holes are punched therein in a pattern corresponding to the information printed thereon. The information sensed at 15 and emitted from the keyboard 13 is also passed to a tape perforator 24 via coders 21, 20, 18 and rotary switch assemblies 23, 22, 19. The tape perforator may be replaced by a magnetic tape recorder.
