Abstract

1,209,423. Electro-physical measurements - flaw detectors. G.K.N. GROUP SERVICES Ltd. March 12, 1969, No.13021/69. Addition to 1, 005, 816. Heading G1N. Flaws in moving strip material are sensed by a plurality of detectors mounted transversely of the strip and scanned electronically. Each detector is of the kind disclosed in Specification 1, 005, 816, viz a field coil such as 13a energized from an oscillator 16 and enclosing a pair of pick-up coils 14a, 15a, (which may be air cored or on ferroxcube) connected in series opposition. Two rows of the detectors are mounted substantially as disclosed in Specification 1, 143, 786 but omitting the mechanical scanning means. Each of the detectors are connected to their own amplifiers 18. phase sense detectors 19 and strobe amplifiers 32 which are gated sequentially by a cycling shift-register and shift driver circuit to pass information to a common indicator 22.
