Abstract

1,208,691. TiO 2 Dispersions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 Dec., 1968 [1 Jan., 1968], No. 116/68. Heading C1N. [Also in Division C3] Aqueous dispersions of TiO 2 contain, as a dispersing agent, an organic compound containing at least 2 tertiary amino groups and devoid of groups that take part in polyamide-forming reactions. Such compounds are 4-dimethylaminopyridine, N,N<SP>1</SP> - dimethyl - bipiperidyl and triethylene diamine. In an example titanium dioxide, water and 4-dimethylaminopyridine are milled with gravel for 24 hours to form a dispersion containing 40% of TiO 2 by wt. of the dispersion, and 0À5% of dispersing agent by wt. of TiO 2 . The dispersion is added to a reaction mixture for the production of polyamide (Division C3).
