Abstract

1,208,645. Soldering. ERSA ERNST SACHS K.G. 25 Oct., 1968 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 50872/68. Addition to 1,130,064. Heading B3R. [Also in Divisions H3-H5] The soldering iron of the parent Specification is modified by providing a loop 13 in the end of the connecting wire 11 which passes through tubular former 7, locating the end 11a of the loop 13 in the former 7 so that the loop rests on the axial surfaces of a step formed by cutting away half of the periphery of one end of the former 7, and wrapping the winding 8 around the loop. The wire 11 has oppositely directed corrugations at the loop end which engage the inside of former 7 and retain the loop 13 in position. The heating wire 8 is wound around the loop 13 and hard soldered to it. The helical connecting end 16 is also hard soldered to the interwound heating wire and is housed in a silver solder jacket 17. The free end of the loop 13 projects beyond the end of the former and is filled with silver solder 18 which is embedded in a heat-proof coating 19.
