In a radiation measuring arrangement in which a function of emissivity of a radiant body in combination with the transmissivity of the intervening medium is monitored, and which uses a number of fluxes of different spectral composition, either two such fluxes may be used and their resulting signals raised to a power proportional to the wavelength of the selected flux to provide by their ratio a correction factor whereby a temperature indication may be compensated for emissivity and medium transmissivity, or, the signals from the fluxes, if an even number greater than two is used, are split into two groups and the signals in each of the two groups are multiplied together before the ratio is determined. In this later case the groups are made up so that the sums of the frequencies which are the co-factors in the numerator and denominator are equal. Any known flux selecting arrangement may be used in conjunction with any photo-electric detector, and a log function generator may be inserted between the detector and the power raising circuit. The system may include a reference source and a chopper whereby selected frequencies from the two sources, i.e. the one being measured and the reference are sequentially applied. This system also may include a logarithmic function stage and the measurement may be indicated or recorded.
