Abstract

1,207,316. Shower units. THOMAS GRAHAM & SONS Ltd. 18 Dec., 1967 [21 Dec., 1966], No. 57097/66. Heading A4N. A shower unit comprises a cubicle 10 having a water drain 12, a first water spray device 13 adjustably mounted to the cubicle to debouch into the cubicle, an open-bottomed height-adjustable revolvable seat 17 in the cubicle, a second water spray device 22 located underneath the seat to serve as a douche spray, the two water spray devices taking water from a thermostatically controllable mixer 15. In a preferred embodiment the seat 17 is mounted around a hollow column 21, the spray device 22 being mounted on the column and a water supply line being connectible to this spray device. A third spray device 27 is provided and is connected to its supply by a flexible conduit 28 to facilitate the bathing of an incapacitated patient. A grab rail 26 extends around the cubicle and a valve (24), Fig. 2 (not shown) and a pressure reducing valve (25) are located between the mixer 15 and the device 13. A plurality of cubicles may be arranged side-by-side or back-to-back, the cubicles having common gutters and water supplies. Tiled ramps may facilitate the entry of a wheeled chair into a cubicle.
