A golf swing practice device 10 (Figs. 1 to 3) comprises a box 112 on which the user 14 stands and an inclined platform 16 for supporting back and fore swing track members 18 and 20 respectively hingedly connected to the platform 12 and supported in a number of inclinations by upright braces 22 connectable at their lower ends to a pair of adjustment brackets 24 secured to platform 12. Backswing trade 18 is mounted on platform 16 by support members 27 of equal length and foreswing track 20 is mounted on platform 16 by support members 34 between track 18 and user 14. 'It is also mounted closer to platform 16 than is track 20 throughout most of its length. Track 20 is joined at its upper end to the upper end of track 18 at 28. The lower ends of tracks 18, 20 merge in a Y-connection 30 which permits access to track 18 and egress from track 20 at common track end 32. As shown in Fig. 3, the track 20 is mounted behind the plane of the track 18 but generally in a plane which intersects the plane of the track 18 along a line of intersection extending from the user's left shoulder to the ball location 52, i.e. along string 56 used to determine the correct elevation of platform 16 (Fig. 1). The club is thereby guided into the correct "grooved" swing. Each of the tracks 18, 20 is provided with club guiding means which desirably releasably attaches the club to the tracks. One form of such guiding means includes grooves 44 and 46 (Fig. 4) in track 18 and 20 which grooves merge at the curve 48 at the upper junction of the tracks and at the Y-intersection 30 at the lower junction 32 of the track. The club head 64 is provided with a connective stud 66 threaded into the heel of the club head and the outer end of the stud terminates in ball 68 fitted in socket 70 therefor. A discoid slot guide 72 is linked through its connecting stud 74 to the ball socket 70 so that the guide 72 can ride freely within the slots 44 and 46. As the practice club 62 and slot guide 72 are moved upwardly by the user along back swing track 18 (as shown in chain outline in Fig. 2) the slot guide is guided into the slot 44 of the track 18 and travels upwards along the track. At the upper limit of the backswing (as shown in continuous outline in Fig. 2) the club 62 and guide 72 are guided from the slot 44 of the track 18 into the upper end of the slot 46 of the foreswing track 20. The club 62 follows track 20 until the club reaches the ball impact position 76 and the travel of the club continues in the follow through portion of the golf swing. Alternative means are described for causing the club head to follow the tracks 18 and 20. Means are described for extending the lengths of the upper portions of the track to accommodate differing lengths of back swing.
