Controlling independently of drivers.-Relates to means for braking the driving mechanism of motor-ploughs and thus stopping the machine when one of the shares meets an obstruction in the ground. A brake drum 10 is secured on the end of the motor shaft 3 and the free end of the brake strap 11 is secured to a lever 12 pivoted at 13 and connected at its free end to a strong spring 14, the force of which is sufficient to apply the brake and stop the machine. The lever 12 is held up against the action of the spring 14 by a bell-crank lever 16 engaging a projection 15 on the lever 12. The other end.of the lever 16 is connected by a link 17 to an arm 19 fast on a rocking shaft 18 on which are loosely mounted a number of depending arms 24 to which the draw-bars 25 of the shares 2 are attached. A projection 23 on each arm 24 is adapted to engage a corresponding stop 22 on the shaft 18 and thus rock the shaft 18 and with it the lever 16 to trip the spring 14 into action and apply the brake when one of the shares meets an obstruction. A spring 20 is attached to the arm 19 to prevent the shaft 18 from being rocked except when the obstruction is sufficient to overcome the resistance of the spring.
