Abstract
1,206,410. Coating wire. SOC. MAFIT (MANUFACTURE DE FILS ISOLES TAURUS). 16 Aug., 1967 [22 Aug., 1966], No. 37578/67. Heading B2E. [Also in Division D1] Wires are coated with an enamel by passing immediately back and forth between applicator and an oven until the requisite number of layers have been applied, the speed of the wire being such that the temperature in this travel is between that of the enamel as applied and the polymerization temperature of the enamel, the wire leaving the applicator and then being passed through surroundings at a lower temperature than the wire so that thermal exchange takes place towards the exterior of the wire and all or practically all of the solvent is evaporated before the wire reaches the oven for polymerization of the enamel. The wire may reach the applicator at between 120 and 150C., the enamel being applied at a temperature of 50C and the temperature of the oven may be 500C. The wire may travel at between 700 metres/minute and 900 metres/ minute.
