Abstract

1,206,281. Vehicle windows actuating mechanism. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 14 March, 1968 [14 April, 1967], No. 17187/ 67. Heading E2M. An actuating mechanism for a vehicle window has a shaft 13 rotatable to open or close the window (not shown). A pinion 14 is rotatably mounted on the shaft 13 for angular motion and is engaged by a worm .gear 15 driven by an electric motor. A drive plate 16 engages 13 and is movable axially but not angularly with respect to the latter. The plate 16 is urged towards the pinion 14 by a spring 17 and has three axially extending drive pegs 19 which engage bores 21. in the pinion 14. A boss 22 of a manually operable winding handle is mounted on the end of 13 for axial and angular 'movement and is urged away from the plate 16 by springs 23 and 25. Secured to the boss 22 are 3 posts 27 which can fit into slots in the plate 16. The electrically operated member may be disconnected from the shaft 13 and the manually operated member connected to 13 or vice versa.
