A grinding-wheel assembly comprises a spindle 1 tapped at one end to receive a threaded stub 4, and a grinding-wheel 18 clamped between a pair of flanges 12, 15 by a nut 10 threaded on to the stub. Cushioning rings 17 of elastomeric material may be provided between flange extension rings 16.
