Fusible cut-outs.-The removable fuse-carrying plug part A of a plug-type fuso comprises a cylindrical knob member, the lower part of which is formed with recesses a<2> to receive the springy ends c<1>, c<2>, Fig. 7, of two diametrically-arranged spring bow contacts C whereby the contacts are held in place. The fuse wire is spring-clamped in one of the bent-over ends c<1> of each contact and crosses the plug diametrically passing obliquely across a " flue " a<7> as described in Specification 22575/13. The fixed member is in two parts, a lower part E<2> to which the fixed contacts F<1>, F<2> are secured and an upper covering part E<1> having a key-hole slot which, in one position, admits the plug member with its projecting contacts. To bring the fuse into circuit the plug is inserted and rotated through 90 degrees to bring the spring contacts C into engagement with the fixed contacts F<1>, F<2> and below the cover-plate E<1>, in which position the plug member cannot be withdrawn by an axial pull. The fuse is usually mounted with the plug part horizontal and in the engaged position of the fuse the " flue " is vertical and in line with upper and lower vents e<2> in the base member. The plug may have a loose knob part connected to the plug proper by a spring to give a quick-break action. A number of the fuse elements may he assembled on the battens of a fuse-board, the contacts being connected to common bus-bars.
