Abstract

1,205,825. Cutting apparatus. GLOBOTEX A.G. 2 Oct., [1968 [5 March, 1968], No. 46689/68. Headings B4B and B5A. [Also in Division D1] A slit is formed in a waist or hip-length stocking or a half of a pair of tights by drawing each stocking over a stocking form and slitting the stocking in place on the form by a device disposed thereon. In one embodiment, Figs. 1 and 2, the stocking is positioned on an electrically-conductive light metal form 10 which carries an incandescent wire 11 fixed at one end 12 to the form 10 and at the other end to a slide 13 displaceable in a guide 14. Compression springs 25 are provided to keep the wire 11 taut. The die 10 is supported on a chain link 17<SP>1</SP> of a conveyer 17 drawn along a slide rail 17<SP>11</SP>. A slide contact 16, to which the wire 11 is connected is arranged on the form 10, engages a contact 18<SP>1</SP> for a predetermined period as the conveyer 17 is moved so that the wire is energized to melt the threads of the stocking to form a slit. In modifications (not shown), the wire is V-shaped or curved or a wire is provided on each side of the form.
