Abstract

1,205,230. Cyclized polydiene resins. TRW Inc. 8 Dec., 1967 [16 Dec., 1966], No. 56016/67. Heading C3P. A moulding powder comprises elastomeric particles which comprise the reaction product of a polyfunctional polydiene prepolymer which has mainly pendant vinyl groups on alternate carbon atoms of an elongate backbone chain with a polyfunctional chain extender capable of reacting with the functional groups of the prepolymer, the reaction product having a peroxide free - radical initiator molecularly dispersed therethrough which is capable of promoting the production of a hard resin upon the subsequent application of heat. The powder may be made by reacting the materials of Specifications 1,193,301, 1,193,734, 1,195,565, 1,195,566 or 1,194,723, to the intermediate elastomeric stage and then comminuting or by spray-drying a mixture of the ingredients at a temperature such that only the first stage reaction occurs. The powder may contain powdered fillers especially powder of the final hard resin itself.
