Abstract

1,204,241. Milling. SKODA, OBOROVY PODNIK. 11 March, 1968 [11 April, 1967], No. 11680/68. Headings B3K and B3T. [Also in Division F2] A device, particularly intended for controlling the motion of a milling cutter head so as to impart a rotary motion to the cutter when milling the crankpins of a crankshaft, comprises a crank 1 arranged to rotate in unison with the workpiece and set angularly at the same position as the pin to be machined. The crank 1 carries an eccentric pin 2 set at a radius R corresponding to the required throw, the pin 2 engaging two mutually perpendicular slotted arms 3, 4 arranged for sliding movement by means of slides 5, 6 in directions perpendicular to the respective slots. The mechanism resolves the instantaneous angular position of the crankpn into two co-ordinates and rack-and-pinion devices 9, 10 effect corresponding displacement of selsyns 11, 12 which control the movements of the cutter head.
