A threshing mechanism comprises a rotating drum 10 with beater arms capped with a resilient material 8, a concave wall 1, segments 4 made of a resilient material which may be hollow and filled with foam or sponge rubber and tapering towards the end where they are attached to mounts 2 which form a unit with a wire grid portion 3 of the wall 1. The segments 4 are capable of yielding (dotted lines) to provide for variations in rate of flow, condition or type of crop.
